About Me

Hi, My Name is Beatriz Oliva.

Here at The IRA Diva, you will find a recollection of my thoughts, opinions, and adventures taken from my professional and personal experience as a young professional lady in the financial industry.

Initially this blog  was established as a means for me to express myself and keep my all my thoughts, desires, and wants on one page. In such a short period this page has already evolved into something more meaningful than just that. I will chronicle all my adventures as a recent college grad, working as an IRA Specialist (in a man’s world), and living in “the real world”. I hope that ALL women (working & not) can find something to relate to on my page- whether it be my foodie experiences, to my cheesy motivational quotes, to my interviews of successful role models of mine, to what I have learned about personal finance through work.

Facts about me

  • I am a dual citizen of the USA and Honduras (don’t let my pale skin fool you)
  • My full name is actually Beatriz Maria Del Pilar Oliva Baker
  • Everybody calls me “B”
  • I am the fifth of seven siblings (six ladies, one gentleman)
  • I am the only female (and the youngest member) of the department I work in
  • My seasoned taste in music will surprise just about anybody
  • I have read the entire Harry Potter series at least four times- they never get old
  • I love learning about management theory but am surprisingly (ha) not very good at applying it
  • I hate mayonnaise

I think this is great! I can’t wait to read some more of your posts. I’m a filmmaker, so I’m acquainted with the whole “man’s world” dilemma. Although, I don’t think I’ve ever actually been the only female, but there are definitely preconceptions to fight through.

I hope you saw that I nominated you for the Liebester Award, but if not the link is provided below. There were maybe 3 blogs I would read when I first started blogging that really helped me start my ideas for my own, and your’s was one of them! I really wanted to nominate you especially because of that. 🙂
